What is a snagging inspection?

A snagging inspection is a thorough assessment of a property to identify any defects, flaws, or unfinished work that may need to be addressed before the property is considered complete or handed over to the owner.

Why should I get a snagging inspection?

A snagging inspection is essential to ensure that your property meets the highest standards of quality and workmanship. It helps identify any issues that need to be rectified by the developer or builder, saving you time and potential costly repairs in the future.

When is the best time to schedule a snagging inspection?

The ideal time to have a snagging inspection is before completion or within the first 7 days of moving in, allowing defects to be identified as early as possible. However, if you have already been in your home for longer than this, it is absolutely still worth having an inspection carried out, particularly while the property remains within its warranty period.

How long does a snagging inspection take?

Approximately 2-6 hours, depending on the size, condition and complexity of the property.

What happens after the snagging inspection?

After the snagging inspection, you will receive a comprehensive report detailing any defects or issues identified during the inspection. This report can be used as a reference when discussing necessary repairs or remedial work with the builder or developer.

Can I attend the snagging inspection?

For a pre-completion inspection, generally no, as developers normally only allow the inspector access to the property. For a post-completion inspection, yes, the homeowner can be present during the inspection.

How soon will I receive the snagging inspection report?

At Snag Surveys, we aim to deliver the inspection report within 24 to 48 hours after the completion of the inspection. This ensures that you receive the report promptly and can initiate any necessary actions.

Are the drone roof inspection and thermal imaging scan included?

Yes. A drone roof inspection and a standard thermal imaging scan are included as standard with our snagging inspections, where conditions allow. More detailed Internal and Full Thermal Inspections are available as optional extras from October to March.

Can I request a re-inspection after the initial snagging inspection?

Yes, we offer re-inspections within 12 months of the initial snagging inspection. This allows us to assess any remedial work carried out by the builder or developer to ensure that the identified issues have been adequately addressed.

If your property has already been inspected, we can arrange a follow-up visit within 12 months.

This lets us check whether any issues have been properly fixed and that no further damage has happened during repairs.

Drone & Thermal Scan Included as Standard

Every snagging inspection already includes a drone roof inspection and a standard thermal imaging scan at no extra cost.

The Internal and Full Thermal Inspections are more detailed thermal services, available October to March and dependent on the weather. Compare our thermal options.
